Macalister Springs camp site - Mt Howit Area

Summary:
Large open and sheltered camp site with beautiful valley views and Vallejo Ganter hut for use in bad weather

Date of visit:
Easter 2013

Access:
Approximately 1 hours walk from Mt Howitt Car Park, 5.5 hours drive from Melbourne

Remoteness:   
Remote camp site – popular during peak times

Water:
Macalister Springs located down from hut provides permanent fresh clean water

Camp sites:
Large sheltered area surrounded with snowgums and beautiful views of the valley. Site includes hut able to sleep at least 10 people – hut had two snakes at time of visit inside box.

Toilets:
Two pit toilets – one recently built spacious toilet with open window overlooking valley, second older style toilet also overlooking valley

Comments:
Large site with A frame style hut with loft and numerous sheltered camp sites (at least 8 camp sites) provide enough privacy for all
