Mt McLeod remote camp site - Mt Buffalo National Park

Summary:
Large open grassy remote camp site

Date of visit:
March 2013

Access:
Approximately 3 hours walk from The Reservoir Car Park, taking short cut. Longer way adds 10 minutes on fire access track (not as scenic).

Vehicle access to The Reservoir car park closed during winter, adding 3km or 1 hour to walk

Remoteness:   
Remote camp site so unlikely to get day trippers

Water:
No permanent water source. Nearby creek was dry during visit.

Camp sites:
Large open area surrounded with views of plains. Unlimited camp spots with small number that are sheltered.

Toilets:
Pit toilet with split door allows provide views of surrounds, approximately 5 minutes walk away

Comments:
Large remote site for access to Mt McLeod. Not an ideal site in summer due to lack of water source.

Rocky Creek remote camp site - Mt Buffalo National Park

Summary:
Small sheltered remote camp site

Date of visit:
October 2012

Access:
From The Reservoir Car Park, either Rocky Creek Track (2 hours), or via Five Mile Plain/Mollison Plain track (2.5 hours).

Vehicle access to The Reservoir car park closed during winter, adding 3km or 1 hour to walk

Remoteness:   
Remote camp site so unlikely to get day trippers

Water:
Nearby Rocky Creek runs year round

Camp sites:
Sheltered area surrounded by bushland with limited views. Approximately 4 camp spots

Toilets:
Pit toilet with split door allows views of surrounds

Comments:
Small remote site provides good overnight stop for circuit walk to Mollisons Gallery. Rocky Creek Track passes beautiful boulder formations and open plains high in the mountains.
